Chong Qing Steamboat

WAH! Finally I had satisfied my craving last night! I know it’s crazy to eat this during the hot spell attack in Kuching lately but I’m glad that I made it on the Friday night which the whole day was wet and cool. Phew… If not, you go figure how are we going to survive? πŸ˜› Too bad the rest couldn’t join us, it’s so hard to find such a nice day like yesterday to have it. We were so afraid that it’s not longer in operation anymore but lucky lucky… They are still in operation! YES!

Had it the first time in December last year. We spent RM56 for the 5 of us last night. This price exclude drinks. By the way, it’s not buffet style. You have to order your ingredients one by one.

Left: The base will cost you RM10. It’s divided into section, the non-spicy and spicy sections. You can choose the level of spiciness. We opt for the lowest level. Hehehe… At first we were thinking to order medium spicy but at the end decided to get the lowest one because we’re not sure about the rest whether they want it very spicy or less spicy since we reached there first. So if later they want it more spicy, we can just ask them to add more chillies! πŸ˜› Then Ann came and I think she accidentally got choked by the spicy base hehehe… Poor girl yet her drink hadn’t arrived. So we settled with this level of spiciness.

Right: The sauce for you to dip your food. I’m not sure what it’s made of but can taste very strong garlic smell and a bit like satay sauce but it’s not stay sauce.

Here’s the tip to eat this:

– DO NOT dump everything in especially the meats into the steamboat, it’s not meant for you to do that, it’s for you to “shabu-shabu”, that’s why the meat are all thinly sliced. If you dump all your meats in, they are going to be very salty and not nice anymore.
– You can dump your fishballs and veggies(those thick type like cabbage) in though.
– As for tofu, don’t let it stay in there too long.

Left: Chicken meat.
Right: Beef. Wow! It tasted so good! This is the best meat to have with this “ma la” steamboat.

Left: Pork.
Right: Singapore fishballs. Huge! I had one only hehe… Ann got the last one and I just realised they were gone so she gave me hers since I didn’t eat any.

Left: Needle mushroom.
Right: Tofu.

Left: I don’t know what this is called. Chinese cabbage? The one u usually see in the market when almost Chinese New Year.
Middle: Cabbage.
Right: A type of fungus. Not sure what its name.

This place is really recommended for those that like spicy food. The location is hmmm… At Tabuan Laru, same row as AmBank. If you are facing AmBank, the direction is to your right. Great weather, great dinner!

Hello Jam, it’s at Tabuan Laru, same row as AmBank. If you are facing AmBank, the direction is to your right. Then walk to the right. You will reach two coffeeshops, by then just look at the signboard.

This is the direction I can give you. So, you have to ask the taxi driver to send you there. Public transport has no help at all.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
